A printing press operator's job is to prepare, operate, and maintain printing presses to produce newspapers, tabloids, books & more.
Responsibilities Include
Preparing
Reviewing job orders to understand the scope of the job, including quantities, colors, and special instructions.* Preparing, aligning, and configuring machinery, ink, rollers, and paper.
Operating
Starting presses, loading and feeding paper, mixing inks, and adjusting ink flow.* Pulling proofs to check for quality, such as ink coverage, alignment, and registration.* Collecting samples during a print run to make adjustments and prevent mistakes.
Maintaining
Performing routine maintenance on presses, troubleshooting issues, and making basic repairs.* Informing supervisors of problems with equipment or materials.*
