D-3 Across the Chasm Objectives
Goal | Find the access to the gondola in the Terminal. Board it, and cross the chasm to reach the location of the Dark Moon piece. Remove the paranormal chains that block the door to the gondola. Capture each ghostly culprit to vanish each chain. Find another way to cross the chasm. Reach the Workshop, and look for the Dark Moon piece. |

Find the Gondola Access
First, you must unfreeze the elevator. To do this, enter the fireplace to go up to the area of the room where there's an open window with snow coming through. Close the window then turn the valve to have the bottom part of the chandelier touch the top part so that it gets lit in flames. Lower it to melt the ice off the frozen elevator.
Return to the fireplace then enter the elevator, which will lead you to the Airway. From there, go left and turn on the machine. Suck up a chain then ride over to the Terminal's entrance. Go through the hallway then use the strobe light when you get to the wall with reflective ice. This will set off one of the bombs stuck in the ice.
The first bomb will destroy a piece of ice and reveal another bomb. Destroy the pieces of ice then go through the newly revealed door.
Get Rid of Paranormal Chains
A Strong Gobber, Strong Slammer, and Strong Greenie will appear, which you will need to find and defeat to be rid of the Paranormal Chains.
From the Terminal, go south through Prospector's Crossing and go into Drift Hall. Go west to the Basin. Once there, use your Dark-Light Device to reveal a bomb in front of the glass. Have it blow up to reveal the Strong Gobber. Defeat it, as well as the two Hiders to undo the yellow chain.
Leave through the Airway on the west side and go into Skip Slope. Slide down and find the missing door at the bottom using your Dark-Light Device. At Smuggler's Hideout, try to melt the big ice block that's blocking the door. The Strong Greenie will appear with three Sneakers. Defeat them to undo the green chain, then shut the window, and then melt the ice.
Ride the Shaft down to the bottom and go into the Coward's Chambers. Go behind the reflective ice, and then enter the door into the Deep Hall where you will encounter the Boo, Paraboola when you uncover the missing pot over the fire.
Enter the Crystal Quarry and go through the portal which will get you to the Chalet. Here, you will be attacked by the Strong Slammer with three Greenies. Defeat them all to undo the red chain at the Terminal. Find your way bacck to the terminal and go through the unlocked door leading to the High Wires.
Cross the Chasm and Reach the Workshop
Use the flaming nut shooter to melt the ice to allow Luigi to use the Gondola. Return to the Terminal and go through the door on the right to go to High Wires. Grab onto one of the chains to get to the next platform. Go to the Workshop Landing using the next set of chains. Enter the door on the right, leading to the Maintenance Room.
Remove the ice that's blocking the generator by blasting bombs from the conveyer belt into the three slots seen above.
Remember to detonate each bomb with a flash after you throw it in, in this order: Left, Middle, Left, Right, Right, Middle.
Once the generator is working, go to the door on the left side. It will get snowed in, and E. Gadd will teleport you back to the bunker.

Head into Crossroads, go through the portal, use the Dark-Light Device to reveal the drawer opposite the door, and suck up all the snow to obtain the Spindle Sapphire.
Coffin Sapphire

Head into Crystal Quarry, use the Strobulb to open the portal, and once you go through the portal, it will lead you to the Chalet along with the Coffin Sapphire.
Mushroom Sapphire

After you melt down the frozen swings in the Gondola, head towards High Wires. Use the Poltergust to reach the platform on the west, then go across the fallen tree to the north until you reach a door with a crescent moon symbol. After entering the door, complete the time challenge, and you will receive the Mushroom Sapphire as a reward.
